The Accommodation
Y Stabl can accommodate up to seven adults by two double bedrooms
(one upstairs, one downstairs), one twin room (upstairs) and one single room (upstairs).
The large dining kitchen (with access to patio and garden area) is fully fitted with everything you should need including
electric hob & oven, fridge/freezer, washing machine, kettle, toaster and microwave. Crockery, cutlery and other kitchen equipment are also provided.
Locating
the living room on the first floor of the cottage gives Y Stabl the advantage of picturesque views to sea and
Snowdonia mountain range. A flat-screen LCD TV with built-in DVD player and separate FreeSat (digital TV) receiver
are provided in the living room for use when the weather may not be so kind. A selection of board games can also be found
in the cupboard at the top of the stairs.
The bathroom with bath, shower & WC is downstairs. We also have an additional WC upstairs.
To make your stay comfortable we provide freshly laundered bed linen and towels,
but request that towels are not taken down to the beach.
Heating & Hot Water
Heating throughout most of the house is by electric storage heaters, which can be individually controlled. The living
room and twin bedroom do not have fixed storage heaters; these rooms can be heated with the portable oil heaters provided.
Water is heated by an electric immersion heater. For some more information about electricity conservation at
Y Stabl, see our Tips for Reducing Electricity Usage page.
Laundry
A washing machine is installed in the kitchen, and a drying rack is provided. The
Silver Bay Club also has drying facilities that may be used.
Dry cleaning and service washes can be done in the laundrette in Valley, just before the level crossing.
Phone & Internet
Mobile reception in Rhoscolyn is very limited, although in some areas such as the beaches it is good enough to make calls.
Some parts of the house or garden may offer sufficient reception to make a call (depending on network).
We have no phone or internet connection in the cottage. The closest internet cafe is located in Holyhead town centre.
The White Eagle and Valley Hotel have wi-fi hotspots. There are public telephones nearby.
Outside Area
The cottage has two allocated car parking spaces- in front of, and behind, the stable/ outhouse, plus additional communal parking space.
Guests of Y Stabl have exclusive use of the stone outhouse (stable) in front of the cottage to keep boats, sports equipment, bikes
etc and to use as overnight drying space. The outhouse is now secured by a padlocked
full-height door.
Y Stabl has its own private patio area (with outdoor
table/bench) to the rear of the
cottage, and shares a large grass area and a small children's
'football pitch' with the two other cottages.
The site borders on a conservation reed bed Site of Special
Scientific Interest (SSSI) due to its importance as a sanctuary
for some unusual migrating birds. Refer to our links page
for some details on the 'reed bed SSSI'.
Rubbish Disposal
Our wheelie bin is located outside the back door, and we
request that the bin is taken to the end of the driveway (by the Ty Lon sign) on Monday morning. There is no official roadside recycling in
Rhoscolyn yet, but we have two recycling bins for use, along with an information sheet.
Pets
Well-behaved family pets are welcome, but for the comfort and enjoyment of other please keep pets out of the bedrooms and off
the sofa, and please ensure any doggie mess is properly cleaned up.
Smoking
Y Stabl is a no smoking cottage, and we request that if you do wish to smoke that you do so outside.
